The partnership between IMG, Nike, and LYG aimed to enhance the London Youth Games event experience through thoughtful environmental design. Focused on Crystal Palace London Sports Centre, the project sought to harmonize the visions of all stakeholders to create an immersive and cohesive event atmosphere.
Input
The London Youth Games (LYG) offered a unique opportunity to celebrate the diversity and talent of young athletes across the city. Our mission was to create an immersive and cohesive event experience that would not only highlight the excitement and spirit of competition but also foster a sense of community and pride among participants and spectators. We began by understanding the needs and emotions of the young athletes, their families, and the local communities, ensuring our approach resonated deeply with them.
Process
My Role:
I was primarily responsible for the full design of wayfinding, large-scale graphics, and key event visuals. I independently created a dynamic visual identity that reflected the energy of the athletes and the event, while consulting with Nike and LYG to ensure brand alignment.Collaborative Elements:
Although I handled the majority of the design, I collaborated with team members on finalizing digital installations and aligning the branding with stakeholder expectations.Design Philosophy:
The design used vibrant colors and dynamic elements to represent the athletes' spirit and community focus, enhancing the event’s flow and atmosphere.
Output
The final event design was a success, transforming the venue into an engaging and immersive environment. My designs received positive feedback from the client and attendees for their ability to enhance the event’s flow and energy, creating a memorable atmosphere.
